This Privacy Policy is provided in compliance with the Malaysian Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) and outlines how Yaeris Digital Services (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects the personal data of our visitors and customers (“you”).

The Notice and Choice Principle (PDPA Section 7)

What is Personal Data?

Personal Data refers to any information that directly or indirectly identifies you. This includes, but is not limited to, your name, address, email address, phone number, and IP address.

We collect data from you in the following ways:

  1. Information You Directly Provide: This includes information collected when you register for an account, contact us directly, or use our services. This may include your name, company name, address, email address, phone number, and content of messages/inquiries.

  2. Automatically Collected Data (Usage Data): When you visit our website, we automatically collect Log Data (e.g., IP address, browser type, ISP, time stamps) and use ‘cookies’ to track preferences and site activity. This data is non-personally identifiable and is used for site analysis and improvement.

Purpose of Collection (“The Purpose”)

We collect and process your Personal Data for the following purposes:

  • Payment Processors: We utilize third-party payment providers (such as Stripe and PayPal) to process transactions. We do not store your credit card information. All payment data is securely transferred directly to these providers.

  • Advertising and Analytics Partners: Third-party vendors may use cookies and tracking technologies to measure advertising effectiveness and personalize content. We advise consulting the privacy policies of these third parties.

  • Legal Compliance: We may disclose your Personal Data if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with legal processes, protect our rights, or ensure public safety.

B. International Transfers: Your Personal Data may be transferred and processed in a country outside of Malaysia. Any such transfer will be done in compliance with the PDPA and ensuring adequate data protection safeguards are in place.

The Security Principle (PDPA Section 9)

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your Personal Data against unauthorized or unlawful processing, accidental loss, destruction, or damage. We only hold liable to the breach of information within our website process flow.

The Retention Principle (PDPA Section 10)

We will only retain your Personal Data for as long as necessary to fulfill The Purpose for which it was collected or as required by law. Once the data is no longer necessary, we will take steps to ensure it is destroyed or permanently deleted.

The Data Integrity Principle (PDPA Section 11)

We take reasonable steps to ensure that the Personal Data we collect is accurate, complete, and up-to-date.

The Access and Correction Principle (PDPA Section 12)

Under the PDPA, you are entitled to the following rights:

  • Right of Access: You have the right to request a copy of your Personal Data held by us. We may charge a prescribed fee for this service.

  • Right of Correction: You have the right to request that we correct any of your Personal Data that you believe is inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated.

By using our website and software, you hereby consent to our Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.

Log Files

Yaeris Digital Services follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. All hosting companies do this and a part of hosting services’ analytics. The information collected by log files include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The purpose of the information is for analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking users’ movement on the website, and gathering demographic information. 

Cookies and Web Beacons

Like any other website, Yaeris Digital Services uses ‘cookies’. These cookies are used to store information including visitors’ preferences, and the pages on the website that the visitor accessed or visited. The information is used to optimize the users’ experience by customizing our web page content based on visitors’ browser type and/or other information.

Third-party ad servers or ad networks uses technologies like cookies, JavaScript, or Web Beacons that are used in their respective advertisements and links that appear on Yaeris Digital Services, which are sent directly to users’ browser. These technologies are used to measure the effectiveness of their advertising campaigns and/or to personalize the advertising content that you see on websites that you visit.

Note that Yaeris Digital Services has no access to or control over these cookies that are used by third-party advertisers.

Our Payment Partners

Yaeris Digital Services is using Stripe and PayPal as a 3rd party credit card payment provider. We do not store any consumer’s credit card information. All information are being flowed to 3rd party payment providers. We only hold liable to the breach of information within our website process flow. 

Third-Party Privacy Policies

Yaeris Digital Services’s Privacy Policy does not apply to other advertisers or websites. Thus, we are advising you to consult the respective Privacy Policies of these third-party ad servers for more detailed information. It may include their practices and instructions about how to opt-out of certain options.

PDPA Privacy Rights (Do Not Sell My Personal Information)

Under the PDPA , among other rights, global consumers have the right to:

Request that a business that collects a consumer’s personal data disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal data that a business has collected about consumers.

Request that a business deletes any personal data about the consumer that a business has collected.

Request that a business that sells a consumer’s personal data, not sell the consumer’s personal data.

Children’s Information

Another part of our priority is adding protection for children while using the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide their online activity.

Yaeris Digital Services does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our website, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will do our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.

Overview of WhatsApp Contact Exporter Google Chrome Extension

This Privacy Policy describes how the WhatsApp Contact Exporter Chrome Extension (the “Extension”) handles information when you use it. The Extension is a personal-use tool that reads the WhatsApp Web interface inside your browser and exports contact information to a Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) file that is saved directly to your device.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy has been drafted in accordance with the Google Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies, including the User Data Privacy requirements, Limited Use restrictions, and disclosure obligations.

Single Purpose Statement

The Extension has one single, clearly defined purpose: to allow users to export WhatsApp contact names, phone numbers, and first conversation dates from WhatsApp Web (web.whatsapp.com) into a local Excel spreadsheet. The Extension performs no other function.

What Data the Extension Accesses

When you click Export, the Extension reads the following information directly from the WhatsApp Web page loaded in your browser tab:

  • Contact display name (as shown in your WhatsApp chat list)
  • Phone number (where available or visible in the WhatsApp interface)
  • Date of the first message in each conversation

The Extension accesses only the content rendered on screen by WhatsApp Web inside your active browser tab. It does not access your WhatsApp account credentials, message content, media files, call logs, or any other data beyond the three fields listed above.

How Data Is Processed

All data processing takes place entirely within your browser on your own device:

  • The Extension reads contact information from the WhatsApp Web DOM (the visible page structure) using a browser content script.
  • The collected data is assembled into a spreadsheet file in memory and downloaded directly to your device as a .xlsx file.
  • No data is sent to any external server, cloud service, API endpoint, or third party at any point during this process.
  • No data is stored by the Extension after the download is complete. Closing the popup or the browser clears any temporary in-memory data.

Data Storage and Retention

The Extension does not store, log, cache, or retain any user data. It does not use browser localStorage, sessionStorage, cookies, IndexedDB, or any other persistent storage mechanism to save contact information. Once the Excel file is downloaded to your device, all data held in memory by the Extension is discarded.

The downloaded Excel file resides solely on your device and is under your full control. You are responsible for the security and handling of that file.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not share, sell, transfer, license, rent, or disclose any user data to any third party under any circumstances. Specifically:

  • No data is shared with advertising networks or data brokers.
  • No data is used for targeted advertising or profiling.
  • No data is used to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
  • No analytics or telemetry data is collected or transmitted.
  • No third-party libraries with network capabilities are bundled in the Extension.

The Extension does not integrate with, or transmit data to, any third-party service, including but not limited to Google Analytics, Firebase, Sentry, or any similar platform.

Limited Use Disclosure

In compliance with the Chrome Web Store’s Limited Use Policy, the Extension’s use of data obtained from WhatsApp Web is strictly limited to the following:

  • Providing the user-facing export feature described on the Extension’s Chrome Web Store listing and within the Extension’s own popup interface.
  • Enabling the user to download their own contact data to their own device, at their explicit request.

The Extension does not use this data to develop, improve, or train generalised AI or machine-learning models. The Extension does not transfer, use, or sell data for purposes unrelated to its single stated function.

Permissions Used and Why

The Extension requests only the minimum permissions necessary to perform its function, in accordance with the Chrome Web Store minimum permissions policy:

  • activeTab: Allows the Extension to interact with the currently active WhatsApp Web tab when you click the Export button. Without this, the Extension cannot read the page content.
  • scripting: Allows the Extension to inject its content script into the WhatsApp Web page to read the contact list rendered by the browser. This is required to access the DOM.
  • Host permission: web.whatsapp.com: Restricts the Extension’s access exclusively to the WhatsApp Web domain. The Extension cannot access any other website or web service.

The Extension does not request broad host permissions, identity permissions, browsing history access, clipboard access, or any other permission beyond those listed above.

User Consent and Control

The Extension is entirely user-initiated. No data is accessed or processed until you explicitly click the Export button. You may stop an in-progress export at any time using the Stop button, and the Extension will download only the contacts collected up to that point.

You may uninstall the Extension at any time from chrome://extensions. Uninstalling removes the Extension and all associated code from your browser. Because the Extension stores no data, uninstallation has no effect on previously exported Excel files saved to your device.

Security

Because the Extension processes all data locally within your browser and transmits no data over any network connection, there is no network transmission to secure. The Extension does not establish any outbound connections.

The security of the exported Excel file on your device is your responsibility. We recommend storing files containing personal contact data in a secure, access-controlled location and deleting them when no longer needed.

Children’s Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect or process personal information from children. WhatsApp itself requires users to be at least 13 years of age (or the minimum age in their jurisdiction). If you believe a child has used the Extension to export data, please delete the exported file immediately.

Relationship with WhatsApp Terms of Service

This Extension is an independent, unofficial tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to WhatsApp LLC or Meta Platforms, Inc. in any way.

The Extension operates by reading data rendered visually in your own WhatsApp Web browser session. Users are responsible for ensuring their use of the Extension complies with WhatsApp’s Terms of Service and applicable laws in their jurisdiction. The Extension is intended for personal use only.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Extension’s functionality or applicable legal or platform requirements. Any updates will be reflected in the Effective Date at the top of this document. Material changes will also be noted in the Extension’s Chrome Web Store listing.

Continued use of the Extension after an updated Privacy Policy has been posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
