REST API + MCP Server

Radar Crawl API: Web Scraping & SERP API for Developers

The same crawler and SERP engine behind Radar's dashboard, exposed as a full REST API and an MCP server — one API key, credit-metered pricing, and real contact extraction built in. Plug it into your own app, agent, or client project without building a scraper from scratch.

The Hard Part

Built for Real-World, Bot-Protected Sites

Most scraping APIs handle simple static pages fine and fall over the moment a site fights back. Every request is SSRF-guarded from the start, so the crawler can never be pointed at internal infrastructure — and on top of that, Radar escalates automatically when a page resists:

1. Direct Fetch

A plain HTTP request first — fast and cheap, and it's all most pages ever need.

2. Blocked? Retry via Residential Proxy

If the direct fetch is blocked or the page doesn't render usable content, Radar retries through a residential IP instead of a datacenter one.

3. Still Blocked? Proxy + Headless Chromium

For JS-rendered pages or interactive bot challenges, Radar escalates to a real headless-browser session behind the same residential proxy before marking the page failed.

You get one JSON response either way — the escalation happens inside Radar, not in your integration code.

Compliance

Built to Not Get You Flagged

Building on top of someone else's crawler means trusting how it behaves on the sites you point it at. Two facts that matter for your own integration:

🤖

Every Crawl Respects robots.txt

The crawler checks and honors each site's robots.txt before fetching anything — your integration doesn't get to accidentally scrape pages a site owner has explicitly disallowed.

✉️

Outreach Runs Through Your Own Provider

Email and AI Call Outreach endpoints send through a connection you set up in the dashboard first (Smartlead, Instantly, MailRush, Bland.ai, or Retell AI) — your sender reputation, not a shared pool Radar could poison.

Integration

Two Ways In, One API Key

Every operation available in the Radar dashboard is available through the same key — no separate developer plan or duplicated setup.

🔌

REST API

Standard authenticated endpoints for crawl, bulk crawl, and SERP lookup — start a job, poll for results, get structured JSON back.

🤖

MCP Server

A stateless Model Context Protocol server exposing the same operations as tools, so Claude or any MCP-compatible AI client can crawl and look up rankings directly.

📇

Recipients Created On the Fly

Pass a recipients array straight into a campaign call and Radar creates or matches those contacts by email or phone automatically — no separate import step before a campaign can run.

🔑

One Key, Both Surfaces

The same API key authenticates REST and MCP calls, and both are thin wrappers over the same underlying operations, so results never drift between the two.

Built for Builders

Made to Sit Inside Your Own Product

Recipients Created on the Fly

Recipients are created on the fly from whatever you send — no pre-import step required before a campaign can run.

Credit-Metered, Not Seat-Metered

Pricing scales with usage, not with how many people on your team touch it — a natural fit if you're building once and reselling to many clients.

Same Engine as the Dashboard

REST and MCP are thin wrappers over the exact same crawl/SERP operations the Radar dashboard itself calls — no separate, lower-fidelity 'API-only' version.

No Rate-Limit Surprises From Bot Protection

The SSRF-guarded fetch → headless-browser fallback → residential-proxy escalation path is built in, so you're not the one debugging why a target site suddenly returns 403.

Pricing

Credit-Metered, Not Seat-Metered

Same pay-as-you-go credits as the Radar dashboard — no separate developer tier, no subscription.

Crawl (per page)

2 credits per page crawled

= $0.02/page at the standard rate

SERP Lookup

Actual data cost + margin

Charged at real-time lookup cost, passed through transparently

AI Call Outreach

2 credits per call

= $0.02/call, if you use the outreach endpoints too

Email Outreach

$0 from Radar

Sent through your own connected provider — Radar doesn't charge for sends

Minimum top-up is $50 = 5,000 credits — worth 2,500 crawled pages, or split across any combination of endpoints. Credits don't expire.

Rate Limits

Generous Enough for Real Use, Tight Enough to Stop Abuse

Per API key, across both the REST API and the MCP server:

Every endpoint / tool

60 requests/minute

Enough for polling a job's status every few seconds or running a real campaign — stops a runaway script or bad actor, not legitimate use.

SERP Lookup specifically

10 requests/minute

Tighter because it's the one endpoint that's synchronous and costs real money per call — everything else just queues instead of costing anything immediately.

Going over either limit returns 429 with a Retry-After header telling you how many seconds until the window resets.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

The quick answers are below — for full endpoint-by-endpoint detail, error codes, and MCP tool schemas, read the docs. Read the Full API Docs ↗

Is this a separate product from Radar, or the same account?

Same account, same API key. Radar's dashboard and its REST/MCP API are two interfaces over the same underlying crawl and SERP engine.

Is there a free tier?

Yes — signing up gives you 100 free credits automatically, no credit card required. That's enough to run a handful of real crawls or SERP lookups and see actual results before spending anything.

Does the API handle JavaScript-rendered pages?

Yes. If a plain fetch doesn't return usable content, the crawler automatically falls back to a real headless-Chromium session before giving up.

What happens when a target site blocks the request?

The crawler retries through a residential proxy on a blocked response, and can escalate to a proxied headless-browser session for sites serving an interactive bot challenge, before marking a page as failed.

How is usage billed?

The same pay-as-you-go credits as the Radar dashboard — 2 credits per page crawled ($0.02/page), no subscription, no per-seat fee, and credits never expire.

Can I use this from an AI agent instead of writing REST calls directly?

Yes — the MCP server exposes the same operations as callable tools, so any MCP-compatible AI client (including Claude) can trigger a crawl or SERP lookup directly.

Do I need a separate developer account to get API access?

No. Signing up for Radar gives you dashboard access and an API key from the same account — there's no separate developer-only tier.
